It's another one of those chilly nights in the city. Friends are busy, Monsieur P is out on a business dinner. And me? It's a night for one. An afternoon of many samples sales (the best deals were found at Lutz & Patmos!), and early evening apartment showings at gorgeous WV townhouses, some with elevators for single-family home...always mind-blowing. And finally, coffee and and an assortment of golden cantucci - deliciously soft, housemade biscotti from Il Cantuccio.
I didn't have an actual dinner, just lots of nibbling around as I walked home. Dropped into Otto for prosecco and a gelato trio of my three current favourites: Concord Grape Sorbet, Rice Gelato, and Hazelnut Stracciatella Gelato. The Concord Grape Sorbet won't be around for too much longer, so stop by if you have the chance!
After arriving home, one more glass of process! Then I toasted a few slices of baguette and broke into a wheel of Cremont, aka "Cream of Vermont," from Murray's Cheese. We had this double cream cheese just a few weeks ago at Gramercy Tavern and I've been craving it since. A blend of goat and cow's milk, and cream from Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery. Silky, easy to love and not overly aggressive but plenty decadent. One plain brownie (from Fat Witch Bakery - they go on "sale" for $1.25 after 5pm!) to finish, and I think I'll settle into bed early this evening.
