A few weeks ago, the people over at Manhattan Fruitier delivered their signature fruit basket, the Cortland Hamper, to my apartment. It arrived on a Saturday morning...not a bad start to the weekend! Inside? A bounty of familiar and unfamiliar fruits, in addition to a duo of fudgy brownies, we found Asian pears, and finger bananas. The mango was devoured right away, while we saved the pomegranate for the lunch, and used it to top off a simple salad. Persimmons? Check. Clementines too. The hamper contents change with season, and have included fruits such as rambutan, ugli, cherimoya and feijoa.
But my favourite item of all? The itty bitty pineapple - I couldn't help but think of home in Hawai'i when I saw it! Monsieur P thoughtfully chopped it into fork-friendly pieces for me on a Sunday night while watching Pretty Woman on television. Not a bad end to the weekend either ;)Manhattan Fruitier
