About once a week, I get a massive, super intense burrito craving. Often I satisfy it at, gasp, Chipotle with Shann, my Chipotle buddy for life. We used to visit the 8th Street Chipotle, but now we visit the one on St. Marks because they make their burritos bigger. We've compared. Our usual order is one carnitas burrito with everything, guacamole too. No beans on Shann's half. We split the burrito. Two sodas. It's just the right about of burrito food, saving ample room for dessert. And there is always dessert.
But yesterday, I wanted a whole burrito for myself. I met with Bhavneet (Shann didn't return my text till too late), a friend/former co-worker from PwC. Bhavneet doesn't like Chipotle so we went to Dos Toros, my other burrito spot. Ed has a great review on Dos Toros here.
There's something so awesome about holding a giant tall, fat burrito with both hands. You can feel the warmth through the foil, it's comforting, you begin to salivate, the world is good. And when I get a burrito, I like to get everything possible inside my burrito. My meat choice is typically carnitas. Then pile in the rice, along with black beans AND pinto beans, cheese, salsa and sour cream. Extra sour cream. Lots and lots of sour cream. Sour cream ranks high on my list of favourite food items. Don't forget the guacamole. Spicy sauce too!!!
Only bad part about the night was that I forgot to order soda, and by the time I sat down the line was too long to justify the wait soda :[ So I bought a bottle of prosecco on the way home and celebrated nothing in particular. Why not? ;)
Happy Thursday!
P.S.
Was star struck for the first time in my life this afternoon. It was over lunch at Maialino with Vanessa. Halfway though our dishes of Ricotta Ravioli (brown butter, lemon, sage) and Salame alla Diavola, we saw Anna Wintour (sunglasses on, yes) walk in with Isaac Mizrahi for lunch. Ahhh! Oh man. Hahhaa. It was so exciting.
