Weekday Notes

This week, thus far? Delicious.

Wonderful meals from the past few days. Wonderful meals NOT accompanied by a camera. No photos makes me sad, but that meant I could dine bringing only a clutch and heels. It felt very lovely to not lug around a big bag!

Notes for myself. To remember. No photos, but letter records.

Wednesday night at Indochine with new friends. Seared filet mignon. Wine. So much wine. And fried guava pastries, coconut cream, warm chocolate cake. Creme brulee. Classics. A midnight meal. Drinks at Cooper Square Hotel to finish.

Thursday night at Mercer Kitchen. Duck confit and wild rice. Fries passed over from a friend's steak dish. Black truffles and fontina pizza. A table of twelve with the same number of wine bottles to match. Yet another chocolate cake, this one with toffee crunch ice cream. And a very memorable lilikoi souffle...made me wish for Hawai'i on that warm evening. Drinks at La Esquina, dancing at 1 Oak. Slept very soundly.

And then there was tonight: Gramercy Tavern with P. A 90 minute wait, thank goodness for lovely spring weather and good moods, time went by fast. To drink: Sole Storm for P, and Fig 75 for myself. Clink, cheers! To eat: lamb parppadelle, celery root soup with fried oysters, hanger steak accompanied by spaetzle and curly endives, striped bass with potatoes, leeks, and cabbage.

And then dessert! There was that oh-so lush lemon bread pudding. A side of caramel ice cream and salted almonds. And then the classic German chocolate cake with milk chocolate coconut ice cream. The bread pudding stole the show.

Lunch at Viet Cafe in Tribeca with the Sonia, the sweetest broker in our office with a sweet tooth to match. A lunch break turned into a two-hour Friday luxury. With weather this nice, it's hard to stay in the office. Good thing my work allows plenty opportunity for fresh air. I found myself inspecting the roof of a UWS townhouse yesterday morning. The sun was bright, and aside from slight paranoia that the other broker would push me off the roof, I couldn't help but think hey, this is my job? How awesome is that.

And now? Off to sleep. Noelle is visiting for the weekend!
