Saturday Morning: Northern Spy Food Co.

Saturday morning brunch. Northern Spy Food Co. with Shann, Noelle, Josh, and Steph. Just a three-minute walk from the apartment, how perfect is that :)
To start, coffee for some, house-made lemon-lime seltzer for myself. I like the lemon-lime seltzer during the day, but their blood orange seltzer in the evenings. Warm buttery biscuits for the table. Sides of raspberry jam. Good morning! It was so sunny out, everyone donned sunglasses and smiles.
And then there was hot griddled cornbread for all, accompanied by sweet onion yogurt.
We ordered family-style and shared all the plates. Better that way...a taste of everything. A generous portion of slow-whisked scrambled eggs came with house-made breakfast sausage, and potato flatbread.
On the sweet side, country-bread french toast and candied pecans. And though you cannot see it clearly in this photo, there was a magnificent ploof of maple whipped cream, tall and lush. I instantly craved for a bowl of hot steel cut oats topped with the same cream...melting, sweet goodness.
And for some greens, there was the bread and roasted sweet potato salad, arugula on the side. We added an order of baked eggs.
A peek under :)
Chris was so kind send out the daily cookie plate...chocolate numbers, another with raisins, cornmeal-apricot, jam smothered between two butter cookies...
...and my favourite brownies (with walnuts, of course ;).Vanilla bean semifreddo to top, oh la la!

And then we took off into the warm day: a bit of work...afternoon coffee at Everyman Espresso with P and Noelle...Archie comics at Forbidden Planet...and BCD Tofu with P in the evening. Hope you had an equally wonderful weekend :)
