Little Snacks

I met up with Jess in the late afternoon. We are both lucky that our work hours allow us to have meals at odd times. Times when most restaurants are empty and free of crowds. First on the agenda, a little snack at Baohaus on Rivington Street.

Pork buns, pork buns! The NYT will tell you more about these.

"Chairman Bao - "Braised slow and low using Niman Ranch Pork Belly. Served with crushed peanuts, cilantro, haus relish, and Taiwanese red sugar.""

My grandma would kill me if she knew I was paying $4 apiece.

[Minimum wage when I was working the bakery counter at Saint Germain in Honolulu not too many years ago was $6.75!]

Post-bao, we stopped at one my favourite clothing shops on Ludlow and picked up pretty black dresses, sheer, short, long sleeves. Spring to come soon!
And then, another little snack at The Meatball Shop. A tidy trio of beef meatballs and spicy tomato sauce. Focaccia on the side. I grew up with meatballs on rice, tomato sauce and all :)
Dessert? Mint ice cream (with fresh mint leaves) sandwiched between two brownie cookies. Impossible to consume neatly in actual sandwich format. Ice cream is on the airy side. Regardless. Delicious. But must be deconstructed for any potential of non-messy consumption.
