Market Table, Gottino
Hope everyone is enjoying the end of this long summer weekend ^_^ I didn't have much planned in advance for myself, but lesson learned...next year I'll take advantage and travel somewhere exciting.
Saturday afternoon, Zubair and I had brunch at Market Table on Carmine Street. The restaurant was relatively quiet and calm, unlike the usual chaos that it is during the brunch hours. Bright and sunny, the windows were open, and the coffee was hot.
The two daily specials scripted on a chalkboard wall were the Cobb Salad and the Heirloom Tomato Salad. We craved substance, and the sort of saltiness that only bacon could offer...so naturally went with the Cobb...and were taken aback by just how salty (SO SALTY) the salad was, copious quantities of blue cheese laced on every piece of lettuce. That aside, the bacon was super crunchy, and just swell, even if the presentation was a bit tiring :)
We also split an order of the Poached Eggs, Buttermilk Biscuits, Grilled Ham, and Hollandaise. Ahhh, much more satisfying, hehe.
Zubair at brunch ^_^
The night before we had a lovely evening meal at Gottino on Greenwich Avenue. Zubair and I dwindled away the nighttime hours with glass after glass of prosecco, and dishes of Rabbit Pot Pie, Sicafa Crostinis, and ohhh man, a plate of the most amazing prosciutto I've had in far too long. I almost regret not bringing my camera...but sometimes it is much more enjoyable to just eat without worrying about photos. We also ran into Greg at dinner (hi Greg!) and Lauren, the morning after (hi Lauren! ^_^) on Perry Street.
Today: Robyn's birthday picnic on Governor's Island...be back soon!
