Lunchtime @ Bo Ky
This is what I eat for lunch three times a week. Bo Ky on the corner of Mott and Bayard. One order of the wonton mein + tax + tip sets me back only $5. Perfectly reasonable. Of every single restaurant in New York, there is none I have eaten at more frequently.
This is my favourite wonton mein in Chinatown, but I have more than a few biases:
- it was the first restaurant I ever dined at in NYC
- the owner's father's father cousin is friend of my grandfather. Or something incredibly distant like that. They only know me as that girl who comes in by herself all the time ^_^
- that little jar of housemade SAUCE on every table. Nutty, a bit spicy, hot oil...you ought to try it for yourself. Mix it with my noodles, the soup...anything.
At dinner, I order the chicken curry funn or the satay noodles. But during the day I keep it simple (and clean/splatter friendly) with wonton mein.
Now that they've opened a second location on Grand Street, this one has quieted down the during the noon lunch rush. Some of my favourite servers from this location moved over to the new location. But my super super favourite is still here. Everything is just dandy.
