Plump Dumpling
Shann, Darien, and I stopped in at Plump Dumpling on 11th Street for dinner last night. We were lacking our fourth original roommate, STEPH, who moved to Boston for optometry school last week. [Bye Steph :'(]
Our new roommate is also named Steph! And I'm sure our living situation will still be super exciting...but we'll miss the orginal Steph and all the baking and planting of greenery she excels in ^_^
So Sunday evening, we were at Plump Dumpling feasting on pretty delicious bowls of curry noodle soup. Darien had the vegetable version while Shann and I both had the duck noodles. The dish was awesome - we all ordered it with hoo funn, the flat, fat, slippery white noodles, and the curry soup, thick, fragrant with bay leaves and super spicy.
You must know, the inside of Plump Dumpling is nasty. My water cup left milky residue, and the owner was combing his hair next to the stove (granted, the place is so small that no matter where you stand in the kitchen, you'll be next to the stove).
But guess what, they're expanding!!!!! I found this to be very exciting and happy news, given that most places are downsizing, or even closing, in this market. On the NW corner of 11th and 2nd is storefront that used to house Citi-Spaces, a now defunct real estate firm. The company closed down that space about two months ago and its' been vacant ever since. But in another two months, it's going to be home of the newly expanded Plump Dumpling.
And then, maybe...perhaps, with all that open storefront space, they'll have more incentive to keep the restaurant clean, hehe.
The total for dinner was only $6.50 apiece ^_^
